The Art of NATURE, The Art of SCIENCE
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a perennial herb widely used in traditional herbal medicine in many countries. It is known as an astringent herb that stops bleeding and well-known for its anti-inflammatory properties used for minor cuts and burns, healing wounds and relieving pain. Yarrow was reported to contain various phytochemical constituents including sesquiterpene lactones, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds. Yarrocalm shows anti-oxidant activities by scavenging free radicals and inhibiting cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. It also shows anti-inflammatory properties with the inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) protein expression as well as the inhibition of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production.
