The Art of NATURE, The Art of SCIENCE
Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla vulgaris), also known as dew-cup, lion’s foot, bear’s foot, or nine hooks, is a perennial, herbaceous wildflower native to Europe that thrives in shady, moist conditions. All aerial parts of the plant have been used in herbal medicine for its natural healing properties to treat wounds, cuts, scrapes, bleeding gums, ulcers, sore throats, and other pain related ailments. Topical application in the form of skin creams relieves rashes, eczema, acne, insect bites, and dry to rough skin. Due to the plant’s high tannin content, Actimilla-ANB shows strong anti-oxidant activities by DPPH and FRAP assays, as well as intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) inhibition. Scientific testing against certain microbial strains shows Actimilla-ANB to also possess anti-acne and anti-dandruff properties.
