Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi), also known as uva ursi, mealberry, sandberry, mountain-box, fox-plum, hog-crawberry, and barren myrtle, is an evergreen commonly found in the northern latitude, particularly along the subarctic regions of the Northern hemisphere. Bearberry leaf has been traditionally used as a tea and herbal medicine. It contains various phytochemicals including tannins, flavonoids, ursolic acid, and arbutin. Bearberry leaf is known to be beneficial against tyrosinase activity and our study confirmed the inhibition activity on this enzyme. Bearberry Leaf-ANB shows strong anti-oxidant activities by DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP assays, as well as intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) inhibition. In addition, Bearberry Leaf-ANB possesses anti-photoaging, skin brightening, and anti-wrinkle activities.
